Up
Base of Waterfall - CR 5

The bottom of the canyon, like everywhere else right now is covered in a thick blanket of snow. There is a hidden cave, where a brown bear is hibernating. There is a cave roughly 80' feet up the side of the canyon(Climb DC 25, including the iciness), just to the side of a thin frozen waterfall issuing from another cave 20' higher. The top of the canyon is 130' high. With a rope, the DC is 10, and with a knotted rope, it is only 5, even with the iciness. The 20' deep snow means everything on the cliff is effectively 10' lower.

The 20' deep snow means that falling is treated almost as if plunging into water. The first 20 feet of falling do no damage. The next 20 feet do nonlethal damage (1d3 per 10-foot increment). Beyond that, falling damage is lethal damage (1d6 per additional 10-foot increment). If a character deliberately jumps instead of merely slipping or falling, the damage is the same but the first 1d6 is nonlethal damage. A DC 15 Acrobatics check allows the character to avoid any damage from the first 10 feet fallen and converts any damage from the second 10 feet to nonlethal damage.

On their way back out, if the party isn't too beaten up, or a tougher adventure is desired, a hill giant will arrive, probably menacing Elayne, and also probably waking the bear, which Elayne will try to get to assist her.
