Honorable Sirs of New New Honeywood,
It is with great happiness that we receive your missive regarding the defeat of dark forces within our borders. I, on behalf of Ket and of His Illustrious Glory, Naidad, Beygraf of this land congratulate you for the valor of your deeds opposing evil magic. Likewise, we thank you for your wise courtesy to consult us regarding settlement of the grey elven village.
As you know, relations between our lands have not always been peaceful, with much blood and many lives lost on both sides. In memory of those lives, our feelings regarding possession of the Bramblewood, and a border along the crest of the Banner Hills are strong. Indeed, our desire to refrain from approaching those borders too closely was likely a factor that allowed a foul cult to take up residence.
We wish to reward well your courageous deeds, but we must remember the delicacy involved in the shifting of borders. We might adjust the respective claims, but in exchange for moving your border northwards to Razor Ridge to include the former elven village, we would ask you to consider shifting your western border southwards along Banner Band, allowing us possession of the Star Peaks. For specifics, I have included a map.
However, this tedious splitting of hairs seems an unworthy reward to such valiant nobles as you. We suggest instead, with your agreement, to leave those existing borders unchanged. Instead, we would prefer to grant you title and domain over the Scalewood, which adjoins your land west and south of the Star Peaks.
The Scalewood and its villages were the claim of Lord Sandor the Headstrong, who set out to civilize those lands eighty years ago, and was never heard from again. Luckily, Sandor has no descendants to deny this fitting reward to you. Indeed, you would also inherit whatever you can discover of the treasure caravan intended to finance his expedition.
We again salute all you have accomplished, and await your response on this matter. Should you ever wish to visit our kingdom, you would be most welcome, and a suite of rooms made ready on your arrival. May the fortunes of the gods serve you well.
Yours sincerely,
Panin Atamek
Khedive of Southern Bramblewood
