Moth, Diren, and Pire head to Verbobonc via horses - first real then magical to get there in a day of hard riding. Restorations are procured, removing negative levels and ability drain. Some shoppping is done. Information is passed on at the keep. And then another day of hard riding back, arriving late at night. Meanwhile Spit and Theldin have been enjoying the delights of Hommlet.

Back to the temple and down to level 2.

We check the other door of the minotaur/initiation chamber - it's a long empty corridor. We pass on it for now. Down the other corridor from the stairs (avoiding the area where Moth was killed last time).

Diren scouts ahead at a 4 way intersection and spots bugbears around the corner arguing about food and a nearby padlocked room. A quick fight later, they're all dead and we're unhurt.

Backing up the hall we check out a door we passed. It's a room full of junk furniture. Wardrobes full of clothes of all types. There's a wall hanging that looks like a door - through it is a small empty guardroom.

Moving on past the bugbears, to the north we find a room full of lumber and firewood. Across the hall from that is a padlocked door. Behind it is a wide variety of armor. You could outfit a whole bunch of guys with this stuff.

We head east from the four-way and find a ruined room. We don't check it out and move back to the four-way and head south. There's a three-way split with a door in the middle. Taking the door we find a big pool of water held back by a dam. Whether this is a cistern or ritual chamber, we're not clear. We test the water by tossing in a coin and dragging a bit of cloth. All seems OK, but we still use the rope of climbing to grab the shield we see at the bottom (oh, magic, nice)

Further south we find a huge room - formerly the site of celebration, then of combat. It's empty except for ruins. We head back by the ruined room and find a storeroom nearby. Theldin enters first and is attacked by chokers. We kill them off, but suffer some injury in the process. The room is full of basic food stuff and supplies. We make a quick resupply of our provisions and move on.

We find a rubbish filled room that was once a relaxation chamber. In the middle is a bronze coffer. Sending in the rope of climbing again stirs up an otyugh. It's scary and results in casters throwing up multiple summons. Diren dashes past as it gets its bearings and stabs it in the kidneys (thank goodness for "Kidneys, a Helpful Guide") and it dies pretty quickly. The coffer had magic user scrolls - we also find coins, a platter, and a platinum bracelet.

We take a corridor that wraps around the outside of the previously explored area and find a room with a quartet of bugbears. A couple are quickly cut down and the others retreat in a larger room with more bugbears. Moth's Web spells immobilizes many but means we can't get at them either. Some are filter out the back and sides. We suspect flanking action and some move back to the halls. Sure enough...

More combat and we're making progress. Diren, Theldin, and Elmo are down one corridor finishing off a group. Moth is back down the hall by the entrance to the rooms. And Spit and Pire are in the main room finishing off the other group. Suddenly three more bugbears come running around the corridor behind us, nearest Moth. And a whole mob of females comes charging in the main room to make a mess of the two there!

And we break for the day.
