Moving / Proposal

Proposal

Submitted for consideration:

Joel doesn't like working full time. Why should Joel work full time, if he doesn't like it?

  • more money
  • health insurance
  • we can stay in Eugene longer

Why do we want to stay in Eugene longer?

  • Temple of Elemental Evil
  • Toad in the Hole
  • Joel learns Russian
  • fix up house
  • get rid of stuff

Since Joel must work full time for us to say in Eugene, what are the problems with staying here:

  • Joel is miserable
  • Joel and Felicia are fussier
  • Joel is unable to study Russian
  • Less time to work on house
  • Less time to get rid of stuff
  • Less time for Pathfinder game
  • Less time in general to enjoy Eugene

Proposal:

Leaving in September 2013 is too soon. Leaving in September 2014 is too late, if Joel is not working as of June 2013. If we arrived in St. Petersburg as of late December 2014, we would be able to spend Christmas there, plus the summer, which would be very nice. So, my proposal is that Joel continue working until the end of May. My annual gynecological exam isn't due until October, so there is no point in waiting for that. This will give us all summer and fall to prepare to go. Joel will be much more likely to work on Russian and household things if he isn't working. He will also be much more likely to enjoy his time with Toad In The Hole and in Eugene in general.

Suggestions for resolving remaining reasons to stay:

  • We should figure out how much time is required to finish the Temple of Elemental Evil game and see if we can adjust the schedule accordingly.
  • Joel should talk to Egor and see if he can get a line on bands in St. Petersburg that might be looking for a bodhran player. Also, he could find out about jam sessions and other musical outlets.
  • Pacific Source supposedly has a low cost health insurance
  • For dealing with things that need to be gotten rid of, we should spend a few hours once a week getting rid of stuff or figuring who it should go to and tagging it. For things that we aren't using right now, they can go right now.
  • For house repairs and other considerations, there is a Timeline.
